My top tips for getting published in 2012 based on my 2011 journey.
Write every day for at least 2 hours. You can do it. You may get less sleep but it CAN be done! Bare minimum...if you do more than that you are ahead. NO excuses. Each day of the week including weekends.
Establish a social networking presence. Establish a web presence with a website or blog. Keep it up to date.Tweet and facebook.
Try to be a panster. Don’t procrastinate with outlines and character worksheets. Put your head down and write! (Apologies to all those plotters out there)
Give up some fun activities. Turn off the television, turn on the music,
After you establish your social networking presence, sign out of facebook! If you have a writing computer that is not on-line, the temptation to chat is not there!
Research your publishers before you submit. Follow submission guidelines to the letter!
FINISH a manuscript...no one will contract you on a promise of the rest of the chapters, unless your name is J.K. Rowling or Matthew Reilly.
Put your head down and go write!
I can agree with all of those - except I'm already a total panster! :)
