The Lucky Seven!
The lovely Susie Medwell has just tagged me in her post The Lucky Seven, thanks for nominating me Susie :-)
The challenge. Post seven lines from an unpublished work of fiction. My current WIP (Italian Affair) is shaping up nicely and I am really enjoying telling the story of Tom and Brianna!
So, the rules:
§ Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction)
§ Go to line 7
§ Post on your blog the next 7 lines, or sentences, as they are – no cheating
§ Tag 7 other authors to do the same
“I think Dad would be more horrified to see your hair, than to worry about me taking off to the wilds of some Italian island. It’s okay, I had a letter from the lawyer. I have to go and see him as soon as I arrive on Lipari and he'll give me all the details.” She laughed. “It was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Brian Ballantine, I’ll have to sort that out.”
“Final call for Qantas flight QF46 to Naples. Would passengers please make their way to boarding gate five.” The robotic voice of the announcer made the last call for Brianna’s flight. Grabbing her rucksack, she hugged Phil and blew him a final kiss before making her way to the gate

And the seven lucky nominees are -
Ann B Harrison
Serenity Woods
Alison Stuart
Susanne Bellamy
Efthalia Pegios
Whitney Keevers-Eastman
Mae Clair

I always thought this would be a fun thing to do and now it looks like I'll have a chance. Thanks, Annie :) Intriguing Lucky Seven you've got there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the challenge Annie.
ReplyDeleteMine is from my current WIP Instant Families.
Jake looked toward the noise and reached out picking it up.
“Hello. Hi Steph, yeah you have the right number, I’m at
Sara’s. We met out on the street, she reversed into me.” He
grinned at the cowering motion that Sara made. “A bit of a
bump on the head but otherwise she’s fine.
Oh thank you for including me Annie. This is from my current WIP (Phantasma) pg 77. 7th line.
ReplyDelete“I think Xen would like the t-shirt, not sure about the shorts.”
“And what is so wrong with the shorts?" She said defiantly.
“They look like your swimming in them.” His grin got wider.
“Okay I get it, don’t be such a smart ass.” Carissa snatched the box from his hands, almost dropped it and headed toward the lounge room in a huff.
Laughter thick and rich sounded from behind her. He admired her defensiveness. “Oh by the way, I am smart and I have a great ass.”
Here goes - p7.Impossible Dream
ReplyDeleteSoon, he returned, accompanied by a rotund, grizzle-haired, middle-aged man. Speaking volubly and with frequent gestures, they approached her table. The older man addressed her.
“Buenas tardes, senorita.” Isabelle carefully returned his greeting.
“Philippe, he say you want work?”
“If you need a waitress, a camarera…?” Please let him need a waitress. The last few weeks on the run had severely depleted her cash. She’d be glad to wait tables, wash up, any job that was legal.
Love them all! You gals are talented!
ReplyDeleteAnne! You have a seriously cool blog. And your seven lines are intriguing. The Lucky Seven was fun.
ReplyDeleteHere are my Lucky seven lines: :)
ReplyDeleteHis green eyes lit up. Cara burned beneath them.
‘I donna think I’ve introduced myself,’ he said, offering her his hand. ‘I’m Patrick. Patrick O’Leary.’
Accepting it, Cara hoped her cheeks didn’t look as red as they felt.
Unfortunately, her reaction to his touch was far more than she’d predicted. When she’d seized his hand, pleasure swamped her. His palm was rough. Calloused. But she wasn’t repulsed by it. She was tantalized. The slight friction it created against her skin was electrifying.
Thanks Annie, It was fun.
